For those who haven't heard...

We have a sonogram on Friday. It was amazing to see a real little person in there. The technician asked if we wanted to know what it was and, being Type A, we said yes. We were surprised to hear the news, but we can't wait! Finally I have gotten to start having the fun of picking things out and registering for goodies.

I will add some pics and such later in the week. Just wanted to share the news for now.

16 weeks and counting

Well, the Cooks have been busy and on the road as always. We've spent the last few weekends visiting Kevin's family in Georgetown while his youngest brother was in town on leave from Iraq. It was good to see him and spend time with the family. It also provided us with the opportunity to bring back most of the baby furniture we bought from granny's neighbors.

Other than that, it's work like always. I have a doctor's appointment this week for my 16 week checkup. Then, we have a sonogram on July 11 where we will hopefully find out if it's a boy o r a girl. I can hardly wait. Meanwhile, here's a pic at 16 weeks. Guess it's actually starting to look like there is a baby in there. :)

Another week of work and then we are headed to Tulsa to see my sisters. 4th of July we are headed to Nashville to see Kevin's grandparents. As usual, there's never a dull moment.

13 weeks

It has been a bit since I blogged last. Time goes by so quickly. Hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend. We did and enjoyed getting to spend time with family. It was a nice break.

Things are going well with Baby Cook. We had my 12 week checkup on May 27th. Doctor measured my belly, and we heard the heartbeat, which was amazing! She said everything is going well and to just keep up what I'm doing (whatever that is...). Our sonogram to (hopefully) find out the sex of the baby is July 11th so that is our next goal. Until then, here is a pic of me at 13 weeks. Starting to pooch a little more. I'm currently at that awkward stage between my clothes and maternity clothes so if anyone has maternity clothes to donate or sell cheap, let me know. :)

Well, we are headed out of town again for the next couple of weekends. Ben (Kevin's youngest brother) is due in on leave from Iraq tomorrow, so it is time for some family time.

Until next time, happy birthday to the Ford Triplets!

Travel, travel, travel...

Well, the Cooks are on the road again. I am flying out this afternoon to meet Kevin in Tulsa to spend the weekend with my grandparents in Northwest Arkansas. Haven't had a good visit with them in a while, so I figured we were overdue. Then, we will be gone the next 2 or 3 weekends after that to Georgetown. Kevin's youngest brother, Benjamin, is coming home on leave from Iraq so we feel like we should be there to spend as much time with him and the family as possible. In between, that also includes the Cook boys annual fishing trip at the coast. Never a dull moment.

Of course, being in Georgetown a few weekends in a row will let us pick up the baby furniture we got such a great deal on. This pregnancy thing gets more real everyday. I have finally passed most of the nausea (only occasional bouts), and I am just getting ready to start my second trimester. That is so crazy! Some days it feels like we just found out and some days it's like we have been pregnant forever. But, I am loving it! We have a 12 week appointment on Tuesday where we should get to hear the heartbeat, and I am really excited about that.

Until then, everyone have a great Memorial Day weekend! :)

9 weeks and counting

So, I am rather behind in posting. My sister and I both had our 8 week appointments last week, and they adjusted her date by a couple of days so now we aren't due the exact same day. Still, it's fun to be pregnant together, and we have enjoyed calling and e-mailing each other to share experiences.

Even though I couldn't hear the heartbeat, it was amazing to have my sonogram and see the heartbeat. It was nice to know there really is something in there that I have been suffering through this nausea and fatigue for each day.

I am a week behind on my "belly" pics but I don't really think it counts yet anyway. So, here I am at a little over 9 weeks. It's been a roller coaster so far, but all in all I am loving it. Here's to mommyhood.

Sick and tired of being sick and tired

I have to say that, while I am excited about being pregnant, I'm not so excited at the morning (scratch that -- all day) sickness I have been experiencing. Things hadn't been too bad at first but about week six, I have had rough days almost every day. My mom tells me she was like this for 3 weeks with me and then it got much better, so I am hoping I will follow that trend (that would leave me with about 5 more days of this general crappiness).

Until then, I am open to suggestions for how anyone else survived it. I have heard the eat 2 crackers before you get out of bed idea and it works.....for about the first 1.5 hours. Any commentary is appreciated!

Sunday, April 20, 2008

Well, now that all of the family has been notified, I can finally post about being pregnant. We've known for about 3 weeks now, and it has been fun to tell all of our family.

We found out at about 4 weeks. It's sad that my first "belly" pic already looks like there is something there. That is just a result of my laziness however. Still fun to think that it will only get bigger though and with a legitimate reason. :)

The weekend after we found out, we went to Tulsa to tell the majority of my family. Turns out that my little sister is pregnant and due the same day as me. Here is a pic of us with mom who is quite the stunned grandma-to-be. She certainly wasn't totally ready for one pregnancy, much less two, but says that she is excited about it.

Well, for now, that is all I really have to share. I am tired all the time and have had some pretty severe morning (all day) sickness for the last week. We are now 7 weeks in so hopefully there are only about 5 more weeks of feeling like this, or so I am told. I'll post more as it becomes known.
